Biography

Sara Harenchar earned her B.A. in English with honors from Gettysburg College in May 2009. She chose Carnegie Mellon's MAPW program because of the focus on both writing and media communications, and she is seeking an internship in either magazine or book publishing. After gaining more experience in editing and publishing, Sara hopes to one day have a career as a professional editor. During her undergraduate years, Sara served as an editor for Dr. Kerry Walters, who was chair of the Philosophy Department, and she also created and published the first English department student newsletter, A Word's Worth. In addition to her passion for writing, Sara is an advocate for social justice and has served in many communities in both the U.S. and China. Some of her stories about these experiences have been published in The Mercury, Gettysburg's student literary magazine, and The Gettysburg Times.
