Rayquaza

To Get rayquaza, you have to have beaten the Elite Four in Ruby and Sapphire. (In Emerald it's not necessary.) Go get the mach bike from maulville city if you dont have it on you. Then fly to pacifidlog town, or if you haven't been there yet, surf all the way down from mossdeep. Once you're at pacifdlog town surf east, keeping near the rocks at the top of the channel. After not too long you'll come across an opening in the rocks. Go up and you'll see a cave that you should enter. Follow the path to get to Sky Tower and go up the stairs. All you have to do on this room is start at the top right, then go down, left, and up all without stopping or crashing on the bike. then go up a level and another level. Now heres the hard part. you have to go down and suddenly turn right. Now your in a little crack free corner. Then back up to the wall and go forward full speed in the middle of the path where there are no rocks. then turn upward quickly, and stop. you'll be in a little area. Go the rocks in the middle of the path after it turns upward. Get on top of them, then charge up and at the last second quickly press right. you should land in one of the middle cracks. Then you will fall into a place with a ladder. Go up the ladder, up the next ladder, and finally in to the room with rayquaza. Save before you attempt to catch it, and if you die or kill it, restart. Its moves are Extremespeed, Rest, Outrage, and Fly. I recommend you use ice attacks because they are 4x as effective and if your pokemon's ice 6x, and in ruby teach a pokemon ice beam (you can but it for 4000 coins in the maulville game corner, which is equivalent to 80000 yen), and in sapphire use kyogre's ice beam. Make sure you'r not too strong. I fired off 2 ice beams, got it to red health(I taught my altaria ice beam so it wasn't too strong. Then it will use rest. Get it to red health fast with more ice moves, then chuck ultra balls until it wakes up. Keep repeating until your dead, it's dead, or your out of balls. Then turn off the game and try again. I hope this helps.

Latios/Latias - The one in your version will become available after you beat the Elite Four. The way you catch it is random as once the one in your version becomes available (after beating the Elite Four) it will run around in the grass appearing at random. If you use an acro bike and repel while doing the bunny jump on the grass, you repel will not get used up (make sure you Pokemon isn't too a higher level than 40 or you'll repel the Pokemon you're looking for). You can also obtain the Lati*s that's the same color as your version by using the Eon Ticket item (see below).
Once you run into Latios or Latias once, you can track where they are on your Pokedex. Try having a first Pokemon that knows Mean Look or some move that prevents running or that knows a move to put them to sleep.

Alternate method...
Once you've seen it, get a pokemon with false swipe or endeavor, or a pokemon that will be sure not to kill it. Then pick a "base city" such as Mauville and Fly to it and check your pokedex. If it isn't in an area around mauville, fly again even though your still there (it resets the location). Keep doing this until it is near your location. This shouldn't take too long. As you go after it, check you Pokedex to see which way it's moving as it'll move every time you enter a new area. Once you're in the same area, Lati@s won't leave so long as your stay as well (unlike the dogs in GSC). Then when you see it use Endeavor (make sure the Pokemon is almost dead first, of course) or a false swipe. Keep doing this pattern until you have it at 1 hp. Then get a pokemon that can Paralyze it (sleep is another option, though Paralysis works better for this method). Then fly to the safari zone and catch a wobbuffet, if you haven't already. Level it up to about 35 or more (the higher the better), and then go to lilycove department store and buy about 5 guard specials, and around 40 ultra balls, in addition to a bunch of hyper/max potions or full restores. Then put the wobbuffet in the first spot in your team and fly to mauville. Save the game(dur). Use the same strategy as before to encounter it, but this time it won't run away (due to Wobbuffet's ability). First thing in the battle, use a guard special, otherwise latios will lower wobbuffets special so much it will almost 1 hit kill it. Keep mist on your pokemon, and heal it when needed. Keep chucking ultra balls and healing, and keeping up the guard spec. You won't have to heal much, because lati@s is not very effective against wobbuffet, and you only have to guard spec. every five turns. Keep chucking ultra balls until he is yours or you run out. If you can't catch him, turn off the game and if he killed your pokemon go level it up more, and if you ran out of ultraballs buy some more. this strategy should help you catch lati@s quickly

Eon Ticket
In order to catch both Lati*s in one game, you need an Eon Ticket. This was a real-life card that could be scanned in with the E-Reader.

What you need:
Eon Ticket card (available through an old Nintendo Power promotion)
E-Reader
A Pokemon Ruby or Sapphire cartridge
Two Game Boy Advances/SPs
GBA Link Cable

Once you have all of these, unlock the Mystery Event function in your game (this is only available after you've beaten the Elite Four). Go to the black-haired man in Petalburg City's Pokemon Center and tell him the following words:

MYSTERY EVENT
IS EXCITING

After this, save to have the Mystery Event option available when you start your game.

Next, put the E-Reader in the other GBA and link up the two Game Boys via link cable. Turn them both on, and in the Ruby or Sapphire, choose Mystery Event. Then scan the Eon Ticket into the E-Reader and follow the onscreen instructions.

After this, the Eon Ticket will be available in your game (go to the Petalburg Gym and talk to your dad to receive it). You can use it to take the S.S. Tidal to Southern Island, where a Lati*s will be waiting. You can only visit this island once, so make sure to save! The Lati*s will be at level 50.

You can pass an Eon Ticket to another Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald by mixing records. However, if you obtained the ticket via mixed records, you can't pass it on to someone else. Also, it is impossible to use the E-Reader to scan it into an Emerald version.

The Regis

Get wailord and relicanth in your party, along with someone who can dig and someone who can dive. Then fly to pacidflog town, and go to the bottom of the town, on that little log bridge that extends 1 square out of the bottom. Then surf west/left, and let the current take you. This is the hard part. The currnt will take you to an island that looks like and arrow pointed west.. Beat up the blabkbelt guy ther and then go to the far point of the island, above the rock at the arrow's point. Surf west. You should end up on a big island with water in the center. Go to the far left and on the extending part of the island. You should be funneled into a small currentless area, with one 2v2 trainer. Beat her and him and surf west. you will arrive on an island. Go to the left of it, and surf west again. you will be on a small island. Be very careful here. Go to the very bottom left, then go 3 squares up. You should arrive at a very small place where you can dive. dive down, then go around to the bottom of the circle. There should some strange braille on the wall above you. Read it, then use dive. You should come up in a secret cave. Go to the far north wall and read the braille, then use dig. Now enter the next room. Go to the north again, and read the sign. Translated it says "First comes relicanth, last comes wailord." Well now put relicanth in the first slot of your party, and in wailord in the last. Then talk to the slate again. There will be an earthquake, and it will say it sounded like a door opening far away. Now you can dig out if you want, or go back. You did what you came to do. Note that if you have Emerald, it's slightly different. In Emerald you have to put Wailord at the front of your party and Relicanth at the end in order to open the Regi caves.

Regirock

First, Fly to lavaridge town. Now go east and down the steps. Then go the farthes east you can again. Above you should be the desert. Enter it. Go to the bottom center. There should be a big cave surrounded by small rocks: enter it. Then go through the north door. In Ruby and Sapphire, read the slate at the north, then go 2spaces right, then 2 spaces downand use Strength there. In Emerald, go 2 steps left, 2 steps down, and use Rock Smash. It will open a door in the middle of the slate. Go in, and save. Regirock is rock type. He knows Superpower, which is a powerful fighting move but lowers his defense and attack, Curse, which lowers his speed but raises his defense and attack, Ancient Power, which has a 10% chance of all his abilities going up by one stage, and Rock Throw. Get him down to low health fast and to sleep fast. He has the Clear Body trait, so you can't lower his stats. All the regi do. Do this fast so he can't raise his stats too much first. Then chuck ultraballs like crazy. It'll take a huge amount. Well now that you've caught him, congratulate yourself, and save it. Now stock up on more ultraballs.

Regice

Fly to Petalburg City. Make sure you can catch an ice pokemon. Then go west, until you reach a beach. Go to the bottom of the beach. Then surf south, sitcking to the west wall. Go west as often as possible, keeping south. Eventually you will reach an island with a bunch of trees and a trainer on it (the trainer's a rune hunter). They are all around the Regi locations. Go west. there will be a small island with just some trees. Go in between them, and surf north, and a little west. You will reach a rock formation like Regirock's cave. go in, and through the door in the top. In Ruby and Sapphire, look at the Braille slate and wait. After a couple minutes the door will open. In Emerald, read the inscription and then do a clockwise lap around the entire room staying next to the walls at all time. Once you have done a full lap, the door will open allowing you to battle Regice. Go in and capture Regice, using the same strat as regirock. Regice knows the same stuff as Regirock, except for Rock Throw being Icy Wind instead, an ice attack that lowers speed. All the regis know Superpower, Curse, and Ancient Power in addition to their one special move.

Registeel

Fly to lilycove city and then go west to route 120. Go up the stairs and go north. You will go through some extra long grass, and rain will start. Then you should find a cave like the others. Go up and read the Braille slate. In Ruby and Sapphire, go to the center of the room and use Fly. In Emerald, go to the center of the room and use Flash. Then the door will open, and registeel awaits. His special move is Metal Claw, which has a chance to raise attack. Use the same strategy as before.

POKEMON RUBY

GROUDON
Pokemon that Shaped the Land

First, you will need:

-To Let Team Magma take off from the hideout
-7 Gym Badges
-A Pokemon with Dive and Surf
-A Pokemon with Strength
( I'm using Marill )

Fly to Mossdeep. Surf South until you see this LONG spot of blue. Dive in it, and swim alllllll the way down/south until you reach a cave. Once inside, Surface.

From here on, just solve the puzzles until you see this big Pokemon with Archie. Defeat Archie. Groudon will be set free, and the sun will be freakishly bright.

Go to Sootopolis, and find Steven and Wallace. They will take you to the Cave of Origin. You really don't need Flash here, but take it if you want it (useful for lowering accuracy of Groudon/Kyogre). On your way down the cave, pick up Waterfall. Finally, you have made it to GROUDON...

NOTE: The same directions are true for Kyogre in Sapphire. You just fight Team Aqua instead, but it's pretty much the same.

In Emerald version, after you finish the Elite 4, return to the Weather Institute, go upstairs and talk to one of the scientists. He will tell you the locations of both Kyogre (Shoal Cave) and Groudon (Terra Cave).

Contributions from Saberstar, Looserboy, Leg0las19, Smurfdude, and of course, NOAfreak. Contributions for the Emerald version changes were made by Bulbasaurus Rex.

If you believe you could write a more coherent guide or clarify a current one (removing all the unimportant info that I'm too lazy to sift through for... having some better grammar... etc.), go ahead and post it and we'll see what happens.

GUIDE: Feebas has to be the rarest Pokemon (that can be found in the wild), to ever exist. I highly recommend searching for this Pokemon when you have alot of free time. Finding him takes alot of patience, and luck. Any . works fine, and be sure to have lots of Ultraballs. Feebas is on Route 119, and you will need someone with surf. There are three main water areas on Route 119, one is a big lake that has a fisherman with a Feebas. The other is more of a river and is towards the north, and the third requires waterfall.
I fished for houres and I didn't find it.Oh finally I get it!! after 3 houres
Let me try to elaborate. Unlike any other Pokemon, this one can only be found on specific spaces in that area. That will mean that you will have to fish on each square, then go onto the next until you find him.. So it comes down to a test of patience and luck, as this can take a very long while.
Evolving Feebas
Unlike any other Pokemon, Feebas will evolve when it has alot of beauty. How much, you ask?well.when your feebas beauty bar reach the top and when feebas won't eat more pokeblocks it will evole...Just rise it one LV.But some times it really son't need to reach the top.

EVs Guide
EVs Guide

It has come to my attention that people are starting to become interested in which EVs (Effort Values) are given out by each Pokémon. Wild PKMN and trainer's PKMN will always give out EVs, but it varies. Some will only give out 1, while others will give out 2 and some even give 3.

Keep in mind that a PKMN can only recieve a maximum of 510 EVs in total, and a max of 255 in one statistic. If you properly train the correct number of EVs into a stat, by level 100 your PKMN will have gained a bonus of 63 points in that particular stat. You can see if your PKMN has obtained all its EVs by talking to the lady beside the Energy Guru in Slateport City. She'll give an Effort Ribbon if you've gotten all 510.

Also, your PKMN can obtain EVs by being fed vitamins. However, a vitamin will only give 10 EVs to its prescribed stat, and only to a maximum of 100 (using vitamins is a very good way to start off EV training, even though it's awfully pricy.).

Items will also affect EV growth in your PKMN. For instance, having the Macho Brace (even though the Macho Brace halves your speed, it's only temporary, and your speed will return to normal once the MB is removed) equipped will double the EVs you earn. If you're lucky enough to get the Pokerus Virus, it too doubles EVs earned. For example, if you fight a Manectric (wild or trained), you'll get 2 Speed EVs. If you have the Macho Brace, it doubles to 4. If you have the Pokerus, it also doubles to 4. If you have both the Macho Brace and the Pokerus, it doubles again to 8. Also, a PKMN that is holding onto the EXP Share will still gain EVs, and EVs will still be gained if you switch out.

I'm going to list all the PKMN in Ruby and Sapphire and which EVs they give out upon being defeated. This will help you determine which PKMN you want to battle, and also help you keep track of EVs you've earned.

Feebas-Milotic GUIDE
Feebas/Milotic Guide

Here's a Feebas/Milotic "guide" that will hopefully answer any questions that anyone may have concerning the catching/evolving/training of this very rare, very interesting Pokemon. Here goes:

First of all, you're going to need the HM 03; Surf. In Ruby/Saphire, you are able to fish while surfing, and unless one of your six lucky squares are the three out of about 400 at which you enter the "river", this is what you are going to have to do.

And, of course, you're gonna need to get a Rod. Any of the three will do, and if you are really serious about training your Milotic to perfection, it does not matter which you use.

Old Rod: Dewford Town; near the dock. Talk to the fisherman.
Good Rod: To the left of the lake on Route 118.
Super Rod: Mossdeep City; go all the way to the right and up the stairs. Follow the path and go into the house, you will see a fisherman; he will give you the Super Rod.

Now, you are ready to catch your very own Feebas.

To find this ugly little fish, must enter the river on Route 119, the Route right before Fortree City, and Surf all of the way down (easiest way in my opinion).
Here's the catch: Feebas is only found in six out of aproximately 400 squares on this one river. Not so bad, eh? I mean, there's got to be a site where the six squares are highlighted, right? I'm afraid not, as these six squares are randomly reset every time you change the "Popular Phrase" in Dewford Town. So, ask a friend what phrase he put in, and what square he caught his! Wrong again, as the squares are COMPLETELY randomized.
The ONLY way to catch Feebas is by fishing these 400 squares, each and every one of them, until you strike gold.
I suggest fishing each square 3-4 times. Anymore is pointless, unless your game hates you, and any less may be just too little to let Feebas slip through your fingers.
Once you catch Feebas in one of these squares, however, you have aproximately a three outta four chance of catching more Feebas in that same square, so don't be freaked out if your Feebas is male, or a nature that you are not happy with. Just catch more, or breed a female that you caught, and keep hatching eggs until you are happy.

Now, to evolve Feebas is really no easy task in itself. Feebas evolves completely uniquely from any other Pokemon: You must feed it Blue or Indigo Pokeblocks until its beauty is maxed out, and then level it up one level. Keep in mind that you can only feed a Pokemon 12 Pokeblocks, and then it will never eat any more. In other words, you can't feed it low-quality Pokeblocks.

Also note that certain personalities dislike dry (which Blue and Indigo are) Pokeblocks. If it is Impish, Careful, or Adamant, don’t even bother trying to evolve it. It will not max out unless you use a VERY high quality berry. I suggest just not even trying, and breeding until you get a neutral personality, or a Rash, Quiet, Modest, or Mild nature, which love Blue Pokeblocks.

Here's a list of the berries that will produce Blue or Indigo Pokeblocks:

Group 1(generally low quality):
Chesto Berry - Blue
Oran Berry - Indigo
Lum Berry - Indigo
Bluk Berry - Indigo
Weaper Berry - Indigo

Group 2(higher quality berries):
Wiki Berry - Indigo
Kelpsy Berry - Indigo
Hondew Berry - Indigo
Cornn Berry - Indigo

Group 3(extremely high quality berries):
Pamtre Berry

I recommend not using berries out of group one, as there is a good chance that your Feebas will not evolve. Any of group two work, and the group three berry guarantees a sucessful evolution.

Cornn, Hondew, Kelpsy are recommended. Blend them in Lilycove if at all possible. You will have more people blending, hence a smoother berry and lower feel.

You can get any of these berries all around the Hoenn region, but another (and easier) place to find the berries are from the Berry Master on Route 23. Talk to him and he will give you two rare berries. Save before you talk to him for more effective results.
If you are raising a Feebas after already beating the E-4, you may consider talking to the Berry Master's wife. If you tell her the phrase "CHALLENGE CONTEST" she will give you a Pamtree Berry, the only Group 3 berry. Of course, you will want to plant this to make more. Also be aware that you MUST have beat the Elite Four to have the word "CONTEST" in your word choice.

So, you finally have all the berries you need, and are ready to begin blending. First, of course, you are going to need a Pokeblock Case. All you have to do is talk to the little girl in the Pokemon Contest Hall in Slateport City. She'll say she has two, and will give you one for free.

Now go blend your 12 (more or less accurate) berries! Like I said, Lilycove is your best bet. Try to get as many bull's eyes as possible. Good luck !!

After you are done blending, feed all 12 Pokeblocks (again, more or less accurate. The beauty boosts depend on the quality of the Pokéblocks) to your little Feebas. Once his beauty is maxed out (this will be determined by the beauty stat no longer raising), go out and level your Feebas up one level! That easy! Any level at all, and of course I suggest breeding, so that you can get all the stats possible.

Some people perfer their Milotic to have certain moves that are only obtainable by breeding, such as breeding a Female Feebas with a Male Corsola(found by fishing with the Super Rod south of Evergrande City, either above or below the waterfall) that knows Mirror Coat. Mirror Coat covers the Pokemon in a coat that will take a Special Attack hit and send it back with double force. As Milotic has very high Special Attack and Special defence, this move is ideal for her. There are of course other moves that can be taught through breeding.

You can obtain these moves by breeding Feebas or Milotic with a Pokemon in its egg class, which is Dragon and Water 1.

Mirror Coat
Dragonbreath
Mud Sport
Hypnosis
Light Screen
Confuse Ray

The Pokemon in it’s egg type are: (organized by evolution)

Relicanth (Water 1)
Corsola (Water 1)
Corphish – Crawdaunt (Water 1)
Feebas – Milotic (Water 1)
Psyduck – Golduck (Water 1)
Spheal – Sealo – Walrein (Water 1)
Clamperl – Huntail – Gorebyss (Water 1)
Horsea – Seadra – Kingdra (Water 1)
Wingull – Pelipper (Water 1)
Lotad – Lombre – Ludicolo (Water 1)
Surskit – Masquerain (Water 1)
Azurill – Marill – Azumarill (Water 1)

Seviper (Dragon)
Swablu – Altaria (Dragon)
Bagon – Shelgon – Salamence (Dragon)
Treeko – Grovyle – Sceptile (Dragon)

I'll go ahead and make a move list for Feebas and Milotic:

Feebas' Level up moves:

Splash..... lvl 1 -NML
Tackle..... lvl 15 -NML
Flail..... lvl 30 -NML

This, of course, means do not waist time leveling up Feebas, evolve it as soon as you can.

Milotic’s Level up moves:

Water Gun..... lvl 1 -WTR
Wrap..... lvl 5 -NML
Water Sport..... lvl 10 -WTR
Refresh..... lvl 15 -NML
Water Pulse..... lvl 20 -WTR
Twister..... lvl 25 -DGN
Recover..... lvl 30 -NML
Rain Dance..... lvl 35 -WTR
Hydro Pump..... lvl 40 -WTR
Attract..... lvl 45 -NML
Safeguard..... lvl 50 -NML

A sample move set for Milotic:

Surf
Recover
Attract
Rain Dance or Mirror Coat or Ice Beam

When does it show up?

Well, the island shows up...but rarely. Basically, the program - that is the game, has many variables, including pokemon, slots, places, etc. Well, with the exact right variables (say pokemon X, on day Y, in slot Z) triggers the game to show the island. It will only stay for a maximum of one day. This could be less if you change the variables.

But how do YOU know it's there? Exactly like you've already been doing...ask the old man in the house in the bottom right house in Pacifilog Town. He will tell you if it's there. Then you just surf out in the direction the man is looking (to the right).

What will I find there?

Mirage Island is home to only one type of pokemon...Wynaut. It will range in levels from 5 to 50, but it is the only pokemon inhabiting grassy area on the island. The only other thing that you will find there is a plot of dirt growing a berry not seen before. It is #36, a Liechi Berry. It is used to make gold pokebloks...and those are supposed to be the best bloks ever...giving the strongest results!

Basics Guide

Okay, I promised this so long ago and now here is PART of it! I'll keep updating this until it is complete, because by now is about just two things: Natures and EVs. Soon enough I'll give it a Summary, throw in a "Why stat boosting moves are good" section, perhaps a Hidden Power formula section (it isn't very worthy the time to get in-game, so I'm unsure), a Pokemon Dictionary and that will probably be all. Maybe I'll think of something else. Perhaps I should explain some battling stuff, like Heal Belling and Baton passing, but I'm not THAT great on it. ^_^;

Now, let's start...

Dictionary

It is quite obvious what this section is about. General terms about pokemon fit here. :/ So yeah.

Stats

Atk = Attack
Def = Defense
Sp.Atk = Special Attack
Sp.Def = Special Defense
Spd = Speed

Moves' (Nick)names

EQ = Earthquake (if someone asks what this means after this topic, I'll kill him/her)
AA = Aerial Ace
BB = Brick Break
T-Bolt = ThunderBolt
F-thrower = Flamethrower
I-Beam = Ice Beam
F-Punch = Fire Punch
T-Punch = Thunder Punch
I-Punch = Ice Punch
BP = Baton Pass
DT = Double Team
T-Wave= Thunder Wave

IMPORTANT NOTE! If a move was mentioned before, then the person may use its initials, even though such use may not be common. I.e: saying F-Bond/DB after mentioning Destiny Bond, RB after Rock Blast and so on.

Strategy relationed stuff (brief explanation on some strategies

SkarmBlissey = MOST. HATED. COMBO. SINCE. G/S/C. Skarm is a BIG physical wall, while no Sp.Sweeper takes Blissey down. :/ Having them both on the same team makes battles turn into pure stalling. And no, this does NOT work on 2vs2.
Stalling = making the battle last way too long. The reason of why DT is BANNED and SkarmBlissey is hated.
BPer = Baton Passer, a pokemon that boosts its stats and them uses the move Baton Pass to pass the boosts to other poke.
HBer (not very used...) = A pokemon that uses the move Heal Bell to cure status problems of the whole party.
Aromatherapist = Same of HBer, but uses Aromatherapy.
SporeSmeargle = Smeargle with Spore, which doesn't work, as normal people play with Sleep Clause. If you use it and no Slep Clause, you are a noob. ;O
SporeBreloom = same of SporeSmeargle, but works kinda better and Breloom uses Spore. :/
Sweeper = A pokemon meant to cause high damage very quickly to the foe's team. Note that this does NOT mean Sweepers lack stat boosting moves. In fact, most of the good ones use such moves.
Special Sweeper = Sweepr with Special moves
Physical sweeper = Sweeper with Physical moves.
Mixed Sweeper = A sweeper with both Special and physical moves. Normally won't work thanks to EVs (read their section)
[b]Tank[/b = A pokemon with high defenses and/or HP. The idea of a tank is to be either very strong (defense wise) against Physical OR Special moves (mixed tanks suffer from not being able to endure as much as Physical or Special ones). Their point is to stop sweepers.
Annoyers = A pokemon with high HP and defenses, similiar to a tank. Annoyers, however, need lots of HP and EVs on BOTH Defenses, so they can come against everything. They can't deal lots of damage with attacking moves (like Double Edge), so they use other moves, such as Toxic, Seismic Toss and T-Wave to drive the foe MAD. That's why they're called annoyers. :/
Hazer = A pokemon with Haze, a move used to revert stats back to normal.
P-Hazer = Pseudo Hazer, a pokemon with Roar, WhirlWind OR Yawn. The first two force switch. The second one causes sleep on the next turn, so the foe WILL switch. If it doesn't, the poke is sleeping and defenseless.

Pokemon's (Nick)names

00ber/Uber = Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Jirachi (many disagree), Lati@s (some disagree if w/o Soul Dew), Celebi (some disagree), Mewtwo, Mew, Ho-oh, Lugia and Deoxys (some disagree on some forms)
Ky00ber = Kyogre
Pwndon = Groundon
Lati@s = Latios or Latias (it means that, it's not that it means either Latios or Latias, it means the sentence "Latios or Latias")
Skarm = Skarmory
Bliss = Blissey
Wobba/Wobby = Wobbuffet

Misc. Terms

Note: I'm not sure if some of those could go on other sections. So if you think something from here should go on other section, tell me.

Physical moves = Bug, Rock, Ground, Steel, Fighting, Poison, Ghost, Normal and Flying type moves.
Special moves = Fire, Water, Grass, Dark, Dragon, Ice, Electric and Psychic type moves.
Acc = Accuracy of a move
BP = Base Power of a move
CH = Critical hit
Noob = Some retard who thinks s/he knows a lot about the game but knows nothing. Often used in situations where NEWB or NEWBIE would be correct, so be careful. Even I do that. X(
Newb/Newbie = Person new to the game who knows nothing to very little, but wants to learn. Has some chance of becoming some stupid noob, but not 100%.
N00b = noob.
Nub = noob.

Natures: More stats? Or maybe less?

This section will explain one of the new aspects on R/S: Natures! While at first glance these may look useless, they play an important role on competitive battling.

“Why?” you ask. Well, each nature will give a 10% boost on a stat and a 10% decrease on other stat. So, having the correct nature makes your pokemon even more powerful! And on competitive battling, you need every advantage you can get. Natures are one of them.

However, there is another kind of Nature: The neutral ones. As the name implies, those natures are neutral: no boost, no decrease. Useful? No. Most pokemon either go with Atk stat or Sp.Atk stat: boost something and decrease the one you don’t use. -_- More of that on the “Tips on Natures” section, not too far from this.o_O;

The Natures’ boosts and decreases

Below you’ll find the boosts and decreases of each nature. Note that they are sorted by what they BOOST. Why? Because that’s what most people want on it. Format is:

+ [What all natures below boost] Natures
[Nature 1], [what it decreases]
[Nature 2], [what it decreases]
[Nature 3], [what it decreases]
[Nature 4], [what it decreases]
[Nature 5], [what it decreases]

---

[Repeat]

So, let’s start!

+Attack Natures
Lonely, -Def
Brave, -Spd
Adamant, -Sp.Atk
Naughty, -Sp.Def

---

+Defense Natures
Bold, -Atk
Relaxed, -Def
Impish, -Sp.Atk
Lax, -Sp.Def

---

+Speed Natures
Timid, -Atk
Hasty, -Def
Jolly, -Sp.Atk
Naive, -Sp.Def

---

+Special Attack Natures
Modest, -Atk
Mild, -Def
Quiet, -Spd
Rash, Sp.Def

+Special Defense Natures
Calm, -Atk
Gentle, -Def
Sassy, -Spd
Careful, -Sp.Atk

Neutral Natures (No boost, no decrease)
Quirky
Hardy
Bashful
Serious
Docile

Nature tips: Getting the correct nature

Last but not least, the nature tips! This section is to help you choosing the natures for your pokemon and such.

As a primary rule, drop the offensive stat (Atk or Sp.Atk) your pokemon does not use. The reason is simple: THE POKEMON DOESN’T USE IT! The defensive stats are always in use and one of the offensive too. =/ Get the one you don’t use. If your pokemon happens to use both physical and Sp. Attacks, choose only one. Or, chances are it is Overheat Blaziken or F-Blast Sala, who do well even with –Sp.Atk natures.

A second rule is: boost the HIGHEST stat of the pokemon. “Why?” you ask. Natures are 10% boosts. The higher you have, the higher is the boost. Also, why boost Defenses on a Sweeper? Or offensive stats on a tank? This rule applies most for the tanks too: they need both defenses. =/ But you’d do better making a Sp. Tank OR Physical Tank than having one tank for both. So a +Sp.Def Milotic is better than a +Def one. And so on.

And the last rule is: if the first rule just can’t be applied, drop the lowest stat. So if you use Drill Peck Zapdos (386 only), you’d do better reducing its Defense than its attack. And NEVER drop speed, unless the pokemon MUST go last, like a BPer with Wish.

This is the end of the natures section. Who said Natures weren’t complex?

EVs: Let’s get a 63 stat point boost!

Another new aspect on R/S, EVs! Many people are unaware of their existence, but EVs play a major role on R/S.

“Why?” you ask. Well, at level 100, a pokemon with proper EVs can have up to 63 extra points on a stat! That is A LOT. So, to be the best, or almost that, you’ll need to learn EVs.

Tips and hints on getting proper EVs

First of all, I want to get a few things clear: EVs are limited. You can have no more than 255 in a single stat and no more than 510 add up (Atk EVs+Def EVs+Spd EVs+Sp.Atk EVs+Sp.Def EVs) When your pokemon gets 255 EVs on a stat, it won’t gain anymore EVs on that stat. And when it has 510 add up, it won’t get EVs for anything.

However, another thing: at level 100, 4 EVs=1 point boost. That means you should NOT have 255 EVs on a stat: get 252 instead! The game rounds decimals down, so both 252 and 255 EVs get the same boost for you: 63 stat points! Of course, if you’re not going to max out EVs on a certain stat, you should still be sure that it is divisible by 4, so no EVs are wasted. Also note that ALWAYS 2 EVs will be wasted: 510 isn’t divisible by 4, but 508 is. So there is a little room for mistakes.

Another thing: in NO part of the game you’ll know which EVs you have. You must count them. On R/S, a woman on Slateport will give an Effort Ribbon to any pokemon with max EVs, but you can’t know on which stats they are. It has yet to be found someone who does that on FR/LG.

Also, there are two ways to make EV training faster: Pokerus and Macho Brace. Pokerus is gotten randomly and while it is in effect, the pokemon gets doubled EVs. Macho Brace is gotten by winning from the Winstrate family. It also doubles the EVs, but it halves Spd IN BATTLE. Like if you were hit by a Scary Face attack as soon as the battle begins. By having them both, you get 4 times as much EVs! :0 Vitamins give 10 EVs to the stat they boost each. However, you can only use them until the pokemon has 100 EVs on that stat. After that, it won’t take more vitamins.

Now, the last tip: Like Natures, BOOST WHAT YOU USE. Alakazam is a sweeper. Don’t waste time boosting its HP and Def. Boosting its Sp.Atk and Spd is just better. And so on. Note HP EVs are better than Def/Sp.Def EVs on tanks. With more HP EVs, Leftovers recovers more HP. Plus, the poke can take more damage, upping it’s resistance to both Physical and Special Moves.

Suggested EV training Areas

This section is just to make you life easier. Suggested EV training areas. On these areas, pokemon that give certain EVs are very common. Even though they’ll only give 1 EV for each, which is easier to count. Also note that this is R/S ONLY. If someone finds good EV training areas for FR/LG, tell it to me please.

HP:
Whismur - Rusturf Tunnel.

Attack:
Shuppet - Mt. Pyre, inside or the top outside (Sapphire only)
Carvanha – Fish on Route 119 with the Super Rod.

Defense:
Duskull – Mt. Pyre, inside or the top outside (Ruby only) WARNING!-It also gives 1 Sp.Def EV!
Clamperl – Anywhere you can Dive

Speed:
Zigzagoon, Electrike (1 EV each), Manectric, Linoone (2 EVs each) – Route 118. Run from Kecleon.

Special Attack:
Spinda – Route 113

Special Defense:
Tentacool – Surf or Fish at the Abandoned Ship.
Duskull - Mt.Pyre, inside or top outside (Ruby only) WARNING! - It also gives 1 Def EV!

That’s it for now.

UPDATES:
09/27/04 - Started guide. EVs and Nature Sections complete.
09/28/04 - Dragonite pointed out that I forgot EV training areas for HP. Added that.
10/10/04 - Fixed a mistake on Careful Nature. It is -Sp.Atk.
10/13/04 - Duskull also gives 1 Sp.Def EV, so I added it to the Sp.Def EV training areas AND put a warning about the other EV it gives. Thanks to Selfmysteries.
10/19/04 - MAJOR UPDATE. Added in the Dictionary section and it is HUGE. O_O
10/20/04 - Added some new thingies to Dictionary. They are: Tanks, Annoyers, Hazers, P-Hazers (all in Strategies section) and T-Wave (on moves section).

END OF THE GUIDE

Hope you guys enjoyed it. And later on, the Stat boosting moves thingy.

And feel free to post suggestions, comments, bashing and whatever!
