Back to 20th Century American Immigration and Migration: A Resource Guide

Access Note:

Many of the resources listed on 20th Century American Immigration and Migration: A Resource Guide indicate that they are for "Carnegie Mellon users only." These fee-based services, paid for by the Carnegie Mellon University Libraries, are limited to those computers with Carnegie Mellon IP addresses. All campus computers have a Carnegie Mellon IP address. In other words, you have access to all these resources as long as you use a computer located on campus. Computers are available in the Carnegie Mellon University Libraries for the use of these resources. Cluster computers may require you to log in with a Carnegie Mellon user ID and password, while the ones in the Libraries do not have any log in requirement.

Off campus users without a Carnegie Mellon IP address, but who have a valid Carnegie Mellon user ID and password, can log into the Proxy Server to gain access to these resources. See Remote User Access for instructions. If you don't have a Carnegie Mellon IP address, or don't have a valid Carnegie Mellon user ID and password, you will be unable to access those resources labeled Carnegie Mellon users only. Perhaps your local library offers similar services.

The print resources listed are available in the Hunt Library reference room, located on the first floor of Hunt Library. Staff at the reference desk can help you locate or use any of these resources. Reference books cannot be borrowed, but must be used in the library. Copy machines are available. These print resorces may also be available at your local library.
