A Day in the Life of A Pirate.mp3
(Click to Listen)

This sound project was inspired by, you guessed it, pirates. I tried to compress the life of a pirate into about 1 minute of audio.
The clip portrays an unnamed pirate sleeping, waking up, participating in a battle, and partying afterwards.
I did not really use any awesome technhiques. The majority of the project consisted of importing an audio track and positioning it.
There was some minor cuts, copies, and looping (such as the music). Some screams were compressed in order to bring the highs down a little bit
to make the track better sounding. There was large use of the envelpe tool both in order to fade in and out mono tracks, and to
simulate a stereo track by using left and right labeled mono tracks (listen to the pipe at the end).

Conceptually, this project doesn't strike me as "futuristic" or "noise-sound" as indicated in the readings.
That sort of sound seems like it would be more industrial to me, as opposed to a soundtrack-esque project such as this one. But it
does follow suit in the sense that as a sound piece, it isn't composed simply of strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion as "typical" music is
considered to be.
An interestng subject that was brought to my attention was the addtion (or lack thereof) of music in this project. It is interesting because
in a project such as this, music changes the piece entirely. Without the music, the project seems much more first-person, as if
one could actually be hearing/living the heard events (as there is no score to life). However, with the addition of the music
the project instantly becomes more third person, withdrawing the listener from the potential reality of the piece and making it sound
much more cinematic, directed, or staged.

These two pieces, both with music (yes, I keep it dramatic : D ), are slightly different. The one above lacks a well-known musical theme, whereas the one
below has it. Try listening to both, although I consider the top on the final one.
