Newspapers Take 2

Activity Description

Newspaper Structure

Overview:

Same deal as take one except you get half as much tape and way less time for design and construction.

My Experience:

Oh god, not this again. Both our design and build succeeded this time around due to experience from what worked previously. Our design this time around was much simpler, just a three legged tee-pee and worked quite well, except for being way too small. The structure we build also had plans for a tee-pee, but we quickly found in building that this would be much too small and made a long tent instead. This worked ver well for some time, then it was bumped, a bend formed and its structural integrity was totally compromised. From this I learned that iterations of similar processes leads to numerous improvements, and that in building with weak materials, like newspaper, be very careful as bends do not come out easy. Also I noticed that pretty much every team used the same design idea, the tee-pee as it was the idea that was the most effective in the first build.
