Overview

Personal communications systems aim at providing portable voice and data communications services to stationary and non-stationary subcribers without temporal and spatial restrictions within a predefined geographical service area, using a single directory address. The PCS provides services conceptually similar to mobile cellular networks. basically PCS has to manage the personal service profile and to support terminal mobility. In a landmark decision, the FCC outlined the rules to be followed in the U.S.A by the up-and-coming personal communications services industry. The FCC decided to auction the PCS radio spectrum for the following two categories:
