Agile Software Development – Application to NI Software Engineering Process

Abstract
Software project management has become complex over the last decade with the increasing success of off-shore development. The software engineering standards don’t apply directly anymore and companies are now required to modify their processes to meet the added diversity and complexity in software development. Any new product introduction (NPI) process now requires an Agile approach for software engineering and new software engineering process (SEP) needs to be more dynamic and adaptive. At National Instruments we have successfully implemented a SEP that helps us in meeting the ISO quality standards. We can further this process and make it more dynamic by following simple agile approaches to software engineering.
