Subject: TAKE ACTION: Help free Ethiopian teacher and union leader, Dr. Taye
Dear Aseem,
We need your help. Authorities in Ethiopia have thrown Dr. Taye
Wolde-Semayat into prison. The former President of the Ethiopian
Teacher's Association and former university professor of political
science was sentenced by Ethiopian authorities to 15 years in prison
following a trial in 1999 that breached international standards for
fair trials. Prosecutors based much of their case on evidence of
witnesses who later retracted their testimony, saying their
statements had been extracted under torture. He has been in jail
ever since.
Please send an email to your Representative asking him or her to sign
a letter on behalf of Dr. Taye.
