Who We Are

Welcome to the webpage of the ClIMA research group. The group, housed in the Department of Engineering and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University, brings together an interdisciplinary group of researchers to answer critical questions on issues related to Climate Impacts, Mitigation, and Adaptation in the Energy System. In a world in which climate change is no longer avoidable and demand for energy services is growing (particularly in developing countries), we will need to better understand the continued impacts of the energy system on the changing climate, continue mitigating these impacts, and adapt the global energy infrastructure to the challenges that now seem inevitable. As an interdisciplinary research group, we use methods from a wide range of disciplines including engineering, social decision sciences, statistics, and economics. In this website you can find more information on our research team and ongoing projects. Keep in mind that this group is just a small part of the entire team of faculty and researchers at Carnegie Mellon University working on energy and sustainability issues. You can find information on related efforts throughout the university in the tab for “More Research at CMU.” We encourage you to visit those websites and the websites of the other faculty involved in all these projects. If you have any questions or comments, you can also send us an e-mail by clicking on our names in the following pages.
