I am a Ph.D. student in Engineering and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University, where I am part of the CyLab Usable Privacy and Security Laboratory. My research interests are in the economics of privacy and information security, human factors in computer systems and privacy protection mechanisms; including software tools, standards and regulation. I am also interested in cooperation strategies between governments to better protect the privacy of Internet users whose information flows across boundaries.
I obtained my masters degree in Information Security Technology and Management in 2010 from the Information Networking Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. And my bachelors degree in Telecommunications Engineering in 2003 from the School of Engineering at the National Autonomous University of México
Before joining CMU I worked for the Central Bank of Mexico from 2003 to 2008. Previously I had worked as a research assistant supporting professor Rogelio Alcantara with the evaluation of adaptative filtering algorithms for digital communications.
