If you use the internet, you should care! The internet was designed to be an international, unresitricted content system, where anyone could do or say anything that wasn't illegal. However, recent actions by certain ISPs have affected people's ability to access certain content on the internet. In addition, some countries (infamously, china) set up nationwide firewalls to prevent their citizens from viewing certain webpages. Imagine the internet, stripped of any content that ANYONE might find objectionable, disagreeable, or offensive. All that would be left would be email. Is that REALLY the Internet you want to see? Well, sadly, it could happen. ISPs like Comcast have inserted deep packet searches into their users traffic, targeting and deleting any information that they consider to be a violation of their ToS. For more information, see arguments for and against.
