PAWS Pittsburgh is a Non-Profit, completely Volunteer organization. Our goal is to assist the elderly and those with chronic/debilitating illnesses keep their companion animals as long as possible, in the healthiest manner possible. |
PAWS know how important our animals "children" are in our lives. For many of us, there isn't anything we wouldn't do for them-including forgoing our own medications and other needs in order to make sure our four-legged "children" are taken care of. There are many people (especially the elderly) who will not even consider going into the hospital for vital treatment unless they know their "children" are taken care of.
PAWS Pittsburgh makes these things possible. PAWS supplies an Animal Food Bank to help support the care of our client's animals. In cooperation with Animal Friends of Pittsburgh, we are able to provide discounted Spay/Neuter services and rabies vaccinations. PAWS provides transportation services to those clients who cannot transport their animals to veterinary appointments. Through our network of volunteers, we provide temporary Foster Care when a client needs to be hospitalized. We also provide Adoption Placement for clients who can no longer care for their animals.
You will see PAWS Pittsburgh present at many functions throughout Pittsburgh and Allegheny County. By providing Animal Care Stations (animal waste control, puppy treats, watering spots and cooling pools) and Information Booths, PAWS helps to care for the animals attending outdoor events. In 2001 alone, PAWS was present at the MS Walk, The AIDS Walk, Bark In The Park (sponsored by Animal Friends of Pittsburgh), Walk For The Whisper (National Ovarian Cancer Coalition), as well as 15 other events throughout the Southwest PA region. PAWS has also provided informational presentations when requested for groups in the region.
PAWS Pittsburgh is completely funded by donations. These donations provide much needed direct services to PAWS clients. Every donation helps an animal to have the best in quality of life.
