Since July 2000 Michael Roth has been president of the California College of the Arts. He was formerly associate director of the Getty Research Institute, where he headed the Research and Education Department. Prior to his tenure at the Getty, Roth was the H.B. Alexander Professor of Humanities at Scripps College and professor of History and Cultural Studies at the Claremont Graduate School. Roth received a BA from Wesleyan University and an MA and PhD in history from Princeton University. Michael Roth's most recent edited volumes published by the Getty Research Institute are Looking for Los Angeles: Architecture, Film, Photography and the Urban Landscape (2001) and Disturbing Remains: Memory, History, and Crisis in the Twentieth Century (2001).
