Here is a picture of what my 1948 M-15a will look like someday. In the meantime,
I just have to be patient.

This one is harder to explain. This amazing group of Belgians built this UNBELIEVABLE structure at Burning Man 2006. I would have LOVED to have been able to see it in person...or even better, have been able to help build it. I am obsessed with this sculpture.

HERE is a link to some of my favorite pictures of the structure.

Sir Ken Robbins and the TED Conference

"Sir Ken Robinson makes an entertaining
(and profoundly moving) case for creating an education system that nurtures creativity, rather than undermining it."

HERE is a link to this amazing talk he did at the 2006 TED Conference. (If you don't have time for the full 20 min, be sure to listen from 8:40 to the end)

HERE is Ken Robinson's bio. HERE is the TED Conference.

Can you get me invited to the TED Conference? PLEASE?!

Here are some recent favorite quotes.

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime."
from: Innocents Abroad, Mark Twain

"Cynicism is often the shamefaced product of inexperience."
from: Mollie and Other War Pieces, by A. J. Liebling. HERE is a link to a great review of the book.

"Never again clutter your days or nights with so many menial and unimportant things that you have no time to accept a real challenge when it comes along. This applies to play as well as work. A day merely survived is no cause for celebration. You are not here to fritter away your precious hours when you have the ability to accomplish so much by making a slight change in your routine. No more busy work. No more hiding from success. Leave time, leave space, to grow. Now. Now! Not tomorrow!"
- Og Mandino

"The married are those who have taken the terrible risk of intimacy and, having taken it, know life without intimacy to be impossible."
- Carolyn Heilbrun

"Have patience with all things, but chiefly have patience with yourself. Do not lose courage in considering your own imperfections but instantly set about remedying them - every day begin the task anew."
-Saint Francis de Sales, French saint & bishop of Geneva (1567 - 1622)

Jennifer Holiday
THIS is one of my favorite things. I happened to catch this episode of Ally McBeal when it first ran. I LOVED it then and I waited for 10 years for the internet to be invented just so that we would have an easy way to watch the crazy song over and over again. (It's even better if you know the story line)
