About Mike

My name is Mike Pane and I am a diehard baseball enthusiast. I have been playing fantasy baseball for about 10 years now, and over the years I continue to engulf myself in memorizing box scores and finding new ways to analyze and evaluate players.  I decided to create Statball because I spend countless hours following and researching baseball including performing my own player evaluations and studies using the PITCHf/x database.  I usually get a lot of emails, texts, tweets from friends on my opinion on a certain player or aspect of baseball, and I figure starting a website is a convenient and easy way to share my opinions.

I am a Senior Statistics Major at Carnegie Mellon University, and I am currently applying to graduate school and plan on pursuing either my Ph.D. or Masters degree in statistics next year.  So in short, you can imagine I am very busy.  But even if its at 3 am at night I always make sure I keep up with my baseball analysis.  Because of my rigorous schedule during the school year, I will be making most of my posts on the weekend.  I am going to shoot for one a week, and if I can handle that I am going to shoot for more.  I guess we will see...

I might not be posting as much as your favorite fantasy site, but what I do post will be of high quality and something I have put extensive research into.  In addition, I will promptly answer anyone’s fantasy or non-fantasy baseball questions.  All you need to do is tweet or email me (see below).
