Minh Hoai Nguyen – BiographyHi, I am a Robotics PhD student at the School of Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). If you don’t know about CMU, please check out USNews ranking of best colleges. If you are not sure how good graduate programs in computer science at CMU are, check out USNews ranking of CS graduate programs. If you want to know more about CMU and/or its Nobel prize winners, please have a look at this page. I got my bachelor degree in Software Engineering in
2005 after spending four years at School of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), the
University of New South Wales.
CSE is undoubtedly among the top ten best computer science
departments in Oceania - Asia region. At
various times during my time there, I was working with doctors Amir Michail,
Eric Martin, and
Wayne Wobcke. They are
great researchers and supervisors whom I always respect to. Before coming to Australia, I finished first year Bachelor
of Mathematics at Hanoi University of
Science which is a part of Vietnam
National University. Hanoi University of Science is among a very few
research universities in Vietnam. It is probably the biggest institution in
term of producing researchers and academic staffs for research institutes,
universities and colleges in Vietnam. My high school A0-TongHop is arguably
the best of its kind in Vietnam. Since being founded in 1965, it has been
being the best place to nurture gifted students in Mathematics and
Informatics in Hanoi and surrounding areas. Many national and international
Olympiad students have studied here and many graduates are now leaders in academia, business, and politics. I was a member of the mathematical Olympiad team representing Vietnam in the
41st
International Mathematical Olympiad where I won a Gold Medal. The IMO 2000 results can be found here or here. My secondary school, Chu Van An, is one of very few selective schools in Hanoi. My class maintains a YahooGroup account 9a1CVA . |
