Biography
I completed my undergraduate work at Washington & Jefferson College in May with a major in English, minor in Philosophy, and concentration in Professional Writing. During my time at W&J I spent a significant amount of time in various internships. I had the opportunity to copyedit and consult on a three-year grant proposal for a program aimed at helping veterans. Last summer I learned the ins-and-outs of direct marketing used specifically in higher education recruitment campaigning. I’ve also produced communications like flyers, brochures, memos, bulk e-mailings (don’t worry, they were legitimate!), wiki content, and business cards for a variety of organizations and offices.
I consider myself a font geek and I think that there is a deep and inseparable connection between layout and comprehension, which I would like to explore during my time in the MAPW program at CMU. Since I’m concerned with appearances (at least typographically speaking), I’m leaning toward Corporate Communications and Crisis Management, with a touch of PR, and a dash of web/graphic design.
