Betta Diseases

Please examine your fish closely and check all ailments that apply. Press the "Diagnose my fish" button when finished. The possible ailments your fish may have will show up in the bottom box. Please make sure to list all symptoms present.

black spots on body
grey/white film
excess mucus
swollen belly
protruding scales (when viewed from the top, fish looks like a pinecone)
reddening of vent area
long pale feces
white coating on eyes
flat, round parasites visible on skin
off white marks around mouth
white cottony tuffts around mouth
red ulcers on body
frayed fins
white spots on fins and body
visible worms hanging from fish
one or both eyes protruding from sockets
cottony tufts on body or fins
very fine white/yellow/gold/rust colored dust (may need to shine a flashlight on the fish to see this)
lack of eating
pale in color
clumped fins
less active
darting and rubbing against glass or ornaments
difficulty swimming (may be floating at top, scooting along bottom or unable to swim horizontally)
losing weight despite eating normally
stays at bottom or surface of tank
swollen gills
fins are lined with dark, white or red
