Nomad Postcards

The Story

The Robotic Antarctic Meteorite Search group wanted some visuals that we could use to talk about the future of the program in our annual funding meetings. For example, this winter, Nomad will be going to Antarctica, and we wanted a picture of what Nomad might look like in Antarctica. So, Debra Zuzindlak (Art Director for the RI) made "Nomad in Antarctica." Later, she also created "Nomad on Mars" for a proposal about Autonomous Science and Planning that we wrote. Both of these pictures were created in Photoshop. I created the third image, "Nomad on the Moon" for one of my viewgraph presentations on lunar robot navigation. At this point, the doctored photos became an inside joke, and I have made a few more, including "Nomad on Mt. Rushmore" and "Nomad Skydyving." We jokingly refer to these pictures as the Nomad Postcards.
