	In Press	*Dekker, David, David Krackhardt, and Tom A. B. Snijders	"Sensitivity of MRQAP Tests to Collinearity and Autocorrelation Conditions." Psychometrika.	This paper extends earlier work on MRQAP, comparing traditional MRQAP approaches to a newly proposed statistical test (double semi-partial method). Monte Carlo simulations demonstrate that the new method is statistically robust under a wide set of common distributional assumptions in network data (multicollinearity, skewness and network autocorrelation). Boundaries conditions for the acceptable application of MRQAP are suggested.

	2007	Krackhardt, David and Mark Handcock	"Heider vs Simmel: Emergent Features in Dynamic Structure." The Network Workshop Proceedings. Statistical Network Analysis: Models, Issues and New Directions. New York: Springer.	This paper compares predictions of Heiderian balance theory and Simmelian tie theory as generative models. We apply ERG models with parameters for each theory to the Newcomb data set. Results support the Simmelian theory as a stronger explanation how triadic closure evolves.

This article reviews 3 different principles of the Social Network literature which could help a manager more effectively change their organization. These principles are the E-1 Index, Viscosity Model of Diffusion, and Structural Leverage Theory from Marketing.
	2003	*Dekker, David, Philip Hans Franses, and David Krackhardt	"An Equilibrium-Correction Model for Dynamic Network Data." Journal of Mathematical Sociology, 27: 193-215.	We propose a two-stage MRQAP to analyze dynamic network data, within the framework of an equilibrum-correction (EC) model. Extensive simulation results indacte practical relevance of our method and its improvement over standard OLS. An empirical illustration additionally shows that the EC model yields interpretable parameters, in contrast to an unrestricted dynamic model.

Identifying obstetric opinion leaders and assessing their opinions on caesarean delivery," Social Science & Medicine, 57(12): 2423-2434.	Used network analysis in a set physicians and nurses of California hospitals to identify opinion leaders regarding caesarean delivery rates. Results showed that only 48% of medical practice opinion leaders would support reducing the rate to targeted levels.

In this paper, we explore the use of motion in looking at changes in networks over time. Also, we demonstrate strategies for visualizing larger complex network data in meaningful ways.

We explore the relationship between CSS (perceived) network structures based on Simmelian ties vs traditional network ties. Building on earlier anthropological work that suggests that culture is a dyadically created construct, we explore whether there is better agreement on the informal structure of the firm between people who are directly tied (through raw ties) or who are Simmelian tied (their ties are embedded in cliques). Simmelian ties win.

We demonstrate an application of network analysis and agent-based modeling in the world of covert networks. Through a set of simulations, we posit how networks can re-establish themselves, recovering from attempts to remove key nodes.

In this review piece, we compare several approaches to asking and answering network questions in organizations. In particular, we note how the study of networks fluidly moves across both units of analysis (people, groups, organizations) and levels of analysis (dyads, nodes, and overall structures).

This paper uses CSS-like data to look at the political process of controlling or encouraging appropriate behavior in fellow-law firm partners (person i sends person j to influence person k). We combine CSS methods and qualitative interviews to characterize and theorize about these political leverage strategies.

	2000	Krackhardt, David	"Modeling Structures of Organizations." In Daniel R. Ilgen and Charles L. Hulin (Eds.) Computational Modeling of Behavior in Organizations: The Third Scientific Discipline. pp. 269-273. Washington, DC: American Psychological Association.	In this paper, I argue that computational models of organizations are excellent theory building devices. The problem has been that computational models are often seen as doing more than that; such as testing hypothesis, demonstrating results, and proving that certain structures are more effective. I argue that these latter pretentions are inappropriate and detract from the value of computational modeling.
