I love the place I am staying at!!! I consider myself extremely lucky to have found myself living with such a wonderful family..The Contreras...Sylvia, Bebe and Luis Carlos who gave me a warm welcome into their home. Below are pictures of the house:

The Contreras: My new family

Below is a picture of Sylvia and Bebe and another one of Luis Carlos. They are the most amazing hosts anyone can ask for! Sylvia cooks delicious food for me everyday and I really feel as if they are part of my own family.

My internship assignment consists of constructing the company webpage...and I have to do it in Spanish!!! Luckily Antonio is there to help me with the translations! Below are some pics of the office:

Fiestas and Fun!!!

I've been partying non-stop since I've been here!!

Weekend #1:
Day 1: Friday 4th June - The first weekend was spent partying at Ana Laura's Fiesta de disfraces (Costume party). I dressed up as a hippie and my friends all came up with extremely creative ideas for costumes. We even got our picture taken and displayed in a local magazine called "Imagen".

Day 2: Saturday 5th June - "The Hollywood Show" performed by Latin Xpression (a mexican ballet company). This show was awesome! A group of us went to see Beatriz dance and most of the numbers were adapted on popular hollywood dance movies such as "Cuban Pete" in the The Mask, Dirty Dancing, "Maghalena" from Dance with Me.

Weekend #2:
Day 1: Friday 11th June - Marusa had a party in her house and we stayed up till 4 am!!! Check out the photo on the friends page.

Day 2: Saturday June 12th - Swimming at Denise's house was the main highlight of that day. Fito, Yera, Elsa, me and Fito's friend Pepe along with Denise and her family had a blast that day. I learned a lot of mexican insults as well!! which according to my new mexican friends, is the only way to start learning spanish properly...

Day 3: Sunday June 13th - Lety's Birthday was another opportunity to network with my new friends...I also had the most amazing mexican-italian food ever! Lasagne with avocado salad!

Weekend #3:
Day 1: Friday 18th June - Emanuel's party! This party was a total blast! There were mexican musicos and an amazing meat buffet! I even ate something called "Cabasse" which is basically cow brains. Check out the "musicos" below!

Loteria: Mexican Bingo!

Every monday a group of friends and I play mexican bingo or Loteria as it is called here. It basically consists of picture bingo cards (rather than bingo with numbers) and you have to put one peso for each card you have. It's a lot of fun!!! but i never manage to win :(

A Mexican Baby Shower

On Thursday June 25th, Bebe took me to her niece's baby shower. Surrounded by a lot of women that day was interesting, and it was the first baby shower I had been to. The baby was named Humberto Armando and a lot of people attended the shower. It was customary to leave a small gift or money, so I made a contribution at the end. Bebe said that in mexico, a lot of baby showers and and wedding showers are held in order to collect money for the new baby/bride.

El Maviri

Sunday June 27th was a great day! I finally visited the beach, something I had been longing to do since I landed in Los Mochis. Fito, Yera, Pepe and I headed out at around 2pm in the afternoon and my chief responsibility for the trip was to purchase the CHEVÉ (slang for beer).

Although the water was muddy and not too clear, it was unlike any other beach I had been to. We watched the sunset when we took a break from our swim.

Bonding with my Co-workers!

Monday July 5th was Jesus's (The Architect) Birthday. We decided to treat him to lunch at Restaurant Canton downtown Los Mochis. I had an amazing time getting to know the other guys, and really felt I made a connection with Catalina, Flor and Jose Carlos.
