Religious School
All religious school programming is on Sundays to simplify family scheduling and transporting. The Religious School Year began on September 9, 2007.
We are committed to the idea that our future as Jews lies with our children. Therefore, our religious school focuses on helping each child develop a positive Jewish identity. This is accomplished through a curriculum which includes Hebrew language, history, prayers and holidays. Our children also participate in special projects and other Jewish community events in the greater Pittsburgh area.
Children can begin attending Religious School as early as their pre-school years. They learn songs, do special projects and learn about what it means to be Jewish in ways that are fun and enriching. As the children get older, age appropriate lessons teach the children more complex and complicated issues in Judaism, as well as more in-depth Hebrew language skills. Snacks and services are also included. Religious School is held from September through May.
Students are tutored by the Rabbi for their bar- or bat-mitzvah for nine months prior to the ceremony, to ensure that they are prepared not only for this exciting event, but also to lead a fulfilling Jewish life.
