Retreat!
September 12-13, 2009

Another year, another retreat, and once again we're recharged to serve through song!
First off, we are nine-strong this year, as God has provided three lovely additions to the Joyful Noise. You can see us all on our members page!
Once again, we departed away from Carnegie Mellon for an entire Saturday. Our destination this year was Pittsburgh Chinese Church, and despite sharing the building with Northwestern University, and the grounds with ACF, we had an excellent time of getting acquainted with one another, growing musically, and seeking God.
From the beginning we hit some major setbacks (no keys to the church!), but it didn't hinder us from diving into the day. We shared a bit of ourselves through the music that speaks to us, and fell headlong into rehearsal. Ben brought a beautiful arrangement of What Wondrous Love Is This to our first session, and it seems as though this can be an anthem for our year.
The rest of the day brought more rehearsal, some group cooking time, some strange incite into our alter-egos, a talent show, revamped Disney songs to further introduce ourselves, and an all-out jam session with *dun dun dun!* musical instruments! No more of that! We'll just use our voices from here on out... maybe... :-)
With a clearer idea of our vision for the year, we press forward. Rehearsals continue today, and we are anticipating a great year of worship, singing, and getting to know all of you.
In Christ Alone, Andrew
-------------------------------------------------
What wondrous love is this, O my soul, O my soul! What wondrous love is this, O my soul! What wondrous love is this that caused the Lord of bliss To bear the dreadful curse for my soul, for my soul, To bear the dreadful curse for my soul.
When I was sinking down, sinking down, sinking down, When I was sinking down, sinking down, When I was sinking down beneath God's righteous frown, Christ laid aside His crown for my soul, for my soul, Christ laid aside His crown for my soul.
To God and to the Lamb, I will sing, I will sing; To God and to the Lamb, I will sing. To God and to the Lamb Who is the great "I Am", While millions join the theme, I will sing, I will sing; While millions join the theme, I will sing.
And when from death I'm free, I'll sing on, I'll sing on; And when from death I'm free, I'll sing on. And when from death I'm free, I'll sing and joyful be; And through eternity, I'll sing on, I'll sing on; And through eternity, I'll sing on.
