Separation of carbon dioxide (CO2) is currently gaining a lot of attention due to enhanced greenhouse effect, contributing to global warming and adversely affecting both the environment and humans. The current technology for CO2 absorption has many disadvantages. The research that I am working on aims to use membrane gas absorption in the form of hollow fiber membranes to overcome the disadvantages of current membrane and conventional technologies. In addition, the effect of nanoparticles on the surface of the membrane in removing the CO2 from the gas stream will be studied. After the hollow fiber membrane rig has been completed and its performance run and studied, a numerical simulation of the separation of CO2 from flue gas in the system will be developed.
