Funding Requirements

Funding Eligibility Requirements

There are essentially two requirements for a student organization to obtain JFC funding eligibility.

  • The group must be in the process of applying for renewal recognition for the current Fall Semester OR be a newly CoSO recognized student organization since the end of last Spring Semester. In other words, the student organization must have been CoSO recognized prior to the start of the current school year.
  • The group must have carried out at least one service, program, activity, or event that is NOT academic, religious, charitable, or political (as defined in the JFC Bylaws) that is pertinent to the main objective of the student organization within the last two semesters.
  • Funding Subsidy Requirements

The following are requirements for a student organization to recieve JFC subsidy.

  • Student organizations may only request funding events for services, program, activities, and events that are NOT academic, religious, charitable, or political, as defined in the JFC Bylaws
  • Student organizations may only request funding for events that are non-discriminatory, as defined in the CMU Statement of Assurance
  • New JFC funded groups may only recieve a maximum of $500 subsidy during their first year. This requirement may ONLY be waived under extreme and unusual circumstances.
  • Funding Subsidy Guidelines

The following are factors that are considered to approve a JFC subsidy request, in no particular order.

  • Demonstration of responsible leadership within the student organization,
  • The number of events, programs, activities, or services the group plans to host,
  • The number of students that benefit or participate in an event,
  • Demonstration of continued growth and development in the organization,
  • Fiscal responsibility and past financial history and spending habits, as demonstrated from past Activity Report audits,
  • Actual need of organization and availability of other on-campus and off-campus funding sources.
