Welcome

I am a Carnegie Mellon University undergraduate student, and I love it there.  I don’t think there is another school In the US where you can walk outside in the evening and hear bagpipes playing. My major is Mechanical Engineering and I am in my senior year. I actually have completed all the requirements for my mechanical engineering major; however, I am staying for my last semester to complete my art minor. I have always loved art, and Carnegie Mellon's great art school has given me a chance to explore my interests in art as well as engineering. I am particularly interested in engineering design and entertainment technology. I feel that these two areas of study are great examples of how art and engineering can be combined successfully. These fields are also becoming more evident and important in modern society as people discover that form doesn't need to be given up for function.

I am currently applying to graduate schools, because I believe that an advanced degree is vital in understanding the depth of information in one's field of study. I always kind of knew that I wanted to earn a masters, but only recently have I discovered that I would like to earn a doctorate degree as well. I feel that this recent decision is in part because of my hope to become an expert in engineering and art on day. However, my research with Professor Higgs has difinitely also had an influenced in my decision. I didn't ever think that I could see myself doing research all day, yet I find that is not bad at all. Instead, I feel that it is just another form of problem solving, which is ultimately my driving force.

Well that is all for now, I'm sure I'll add some more stuff as I continually update the site.
