Identifying and Analyzing Self-Regulatory Processes During Hypermedia Learning: Implications for the Design of Intelligent Learning Environments (ILEs)

The following collaborative activity among workshop participants will include a brief overview of the role of SRL and metacognitive processes during complex learning with hypermedia and presentation of the data to be used for the activity.
Participants will work in groups to (1) analyze several data sources (including video, coded think-aloud protocols, behavioral patterns, performance data) of hypermedia learning, (2) draw conclusions about the learners' SRL behavior and the deployment of the processes, and (3) generate principled instructional guidelines for the design of intelligent learning environments (ILEs).
The activities and discussions will be moderated by Amy Witherspoon, Roger Azevedo, and the workshop organizers. The data will be made available on a secure website. Participants are strongly encouraged to bring their laptops and hard copies of the data to the workshop.
