About the Workshop

Students often face the challenge of acquiring new knowledge or of adapting their existing body of knowledge. To help them better address these challenges, educational technologies should not only teach domain knowledge (at the cognitive level), but should also help students become more capable and independent learners.
Metacognitive tutoring faces unique challenges, compared with domain level tutoring. These challenges include implicit learning goals, difficulties in measuring and evaluating metacognitive behavior, defining productive metacognitive behaviors and self-regulation strategies within educational technologies, etc.

The goals of this workshop are to promote an in depth discussion around these issues and to support the community of researchers who studies meta-cognition and self-regulated learning in educational technologies.
