For convenience, example SPHRAY snapshots are provided here. The tarball below contains two small snapshots which allow a user to run three of the four tests outlined in the Radiative Tranfer Comparison Project of Iliev et. al. 2006 ..

Super Quick Start Guide

• download the two tarballs above
• unzip and untar them both.
  tar xvfz sphray-x.x.tar.gz
  tar xvfz iliev-snapshots-small.tar.gz
• cd into the trunk directory
  cd sphray-x.x/trunk
• make a copy of the file MakefileTemplate and call it Makefile
  cp MakefileTemplate Makefile
• create the executable
  make
• SPHRAY takes the first command line argument to be a configuration file. Run with one of the provided density fields and config files.
  ./sphray ../../IlievSmallSnapshots/test1.config

Screen outputs will be generated (you could redirect them into a file) and full output snapshots will be generated in the same directory as the executable. If IDL is installed on your system you can plot the results using the .pro files in the analysis/idl directory.

To run the other provided tests you will have to make slight adjustments to the Makefile. The pre processor macros (the first several lines in the Makefile) determine what type of information should be stored for each particle and what type of solver will be used to update the particles. For test 1 they should all be commented out except DuseEULER and DSphrayIn . For the other included tests, you should also uncomment DincT .
