Research
Interests and Current Activities
Theory and numerical aspects of partial differential equations
Stochastic Analysis
Optimization Theory, Inverse Problems
Parameter Optimization in numerical simulations of structual
mechanics
Currently, I am
a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Mathematical
Sciences,
as a member of the interdepartmental Material Research and Engineering
Center (MRSEC) initiative
at Carnegie Mellon University. Recently, I
started to study the complex graingrowth problems in Material
Sciences. Here I focus on the development of 2D/3D simulations of
graingrowth to gain more insight into the so-called grainboundary
character distribution (GBCD).
Besides this I
am interested in modelling biological and medical applications
by means of applied stochastic analysis My earlier
research activities include also the Meteorological
Data
Assimilation Problem, treated as a differential optimization
problem (read more at PhD
Thesis)
and parameter
optimization in the numerical simulation of structural mechanics.
In spring 2007, I will teach the course 'Numerical Methods',
21-369.
