Prior to the service

1.     9:30am service: Turn on fuse switch for the sound board (in closet behind the sound board)

2.     9:30am service: Get CD recorder from file drawer at back-right corner of office

3.     9:30am service: Plug in power cord (in back) and 2 inputs (in front) to CD recorder

4.     9:30am service: Set up microphones

a.     If Sunday Celebrations has already set them up, then check to see which outlets they are plugged into

b.     If no microphones are set up, then set up a microphone for the pulpit at outlet #3 and for joys & sorrows at outlet #7, and see whether anyone knows if additional microphones are needed

5.     Turn up sound for the system (left red slider for general volume, right red slider for hearing-impaired system), for each microphone outlet that is being used, and for the wireless

6.     Have someone do a sound check into each microphone - preferably with you or someone else standing in dead center of the sanctuary to determine levels

7.     Insert blank disc into the CD recorder - follow instructions on posted yellow sheets to set up recording

8.     Mark order of service to plan when lights need to be done

9.     Immediately before the prelude starts, start recording the CD

During the service

10.  Switch light settings between #1 (full lighting), #2 (focus on pulpit), and #3 (focus on choir) according to plan

11.  Adjust microphones that seem to be too loud or too soft

a.     Keep an eye out for people trying to let you know that something needs to be adjusted

12.  If there is feedback, cut the sound with the red slider and then raise it back up slowly.

a.     If this does not resolve it, try cutting other microphones

b.     If you keep getting high-pitched feedback, try turning down the knob for ÒHFÓ (high frequency) for the microphone in use

13.  During "greet your neighbor" keep an eye up front and turn the lights to setting #2 when David (or whoever is in charge) is ready -- i.e., whenever someone is standing on the alter looking like it's time to move on

Following the service

14.  Stop and finalize the CD (see instructions on yellow sheets)

15.  Label the CD, put it in a CD sleeve, and put it in David's mail folder (just inside the office, in the cabinet)

16.  9:30 service: If you could be so kind as to set up the CD for the 11am service, that would be greatly appreciated

17.  11am service: Turn all the sound sliders down to zero

18.  11am service: Wrap the microphone cords neatly, twisting ¼ turn each loop to prevent them from kinking

19.  11am service: Put microphones and cords away in upstairs closet

20.  11am service: Put CD recorder and wireless microphone away in file drawer at back-right corner of office

21.  11am service: Turn off fuse switch for sound board

22.  11am service: Turn off lights (use setting "off")
