

Facebook. Bebo. MySpace. Orkut. Hi5. Friendster. Cyworld.
Ten years ago no one had ever heard of any of these sites. Now, Facebook and Myspace
are the number 5 and 7 most visited web sites, respectively and the others are growing exponentially.
How did such a revolution come about?
We are able to communicate instantaneously with people all over the world, and
share our interests, favorites, and dislikes.
But what are the risks?
While social networking has been for the most part embraced by the younger generation,
many parents, governmental officials, and zealous teachers have called for limitations.
So what are these criticisms?
What is social networking? What are its applications? What are its risks and benefits?
These are questions my group will answer.
