Jishnu Datta passed away on Nov 29, 2016. Datta is survived by his wife, Sumitra Datta, two sons, Apratim Datta and Anupam Datta, and their families. Jishnu Datta was on the faculty of Cotton College for 34 years. He was a Professor in the Department of Statistics and served as Head of the Department from 1992 to 1997. As Dean, he led Cotton College for a brief period in 1998 before his retirement.
