August 14, 2008
Cal Herring has sent additional information about the Freeland Fire Department's apparatus in 1974 (see Municipal Matters).

August 2, 2008
Cal Herring has sent a history of major fires in Freeland borough, so I've added that to the Municipal Matters page.

June 17, 2008
Cal Herring has sent historical information about the Freeland Fire Department's apparatus over the years, so I've added that to the Municipal Matters page.

I've also updated the Links page (linked from the upper right corner of each page).

May 31, 2008
I've added to the Schools page a PDF of a Rusyn language textbook from 1917 that was used at St. Mary's School, along with images of the front cover and several sample pages.

February 17, 2008
New on the home page is a link to a page showing some 1895 maps of Freeland.

February 13, 2008
I made a new introductory page as the front door to my site. What had been the home page all along will now be the page that you get to when you go through the "door" of the intro page.  The new intro page has the URL <freeland.html>, and the home page has the new URL <freeland_home.html>.

January 30, 2008
I've made a few of the many updates I need to make to the list of Freeland businesses from recent decades -- more to come soon.

September 30, 2007
I've added information about Freeland's new historical society to the home page.

SOON TO COME: Revised and expanded list of Freeland businesses from recent decades, incorporating information from many e-mail correspondents.  This update is long overdue but I hope to be able to do it soon.  Apologies for the delay.

September 16, 2006
I've added information about the Pearl Jubilee booklet to the home page.

September 4, 2006
A photo of the Citizens Band has been added to the Pearl Jubilee page, compliments of Christina Sachs Humphrey. I've also added three more Pearl Jubilee photos from other sources. These are low quality images but still give a sense of what was happening during the celebration.

August 17, 2006
Pearl Jubilee booklet: A 16-page booklet about the 1906 Pearl Jubilee is now available at The Corner Market in Freeland. More information is available on the Pearl Jubilee page.

Revised home page with more text and images. Also, I'll start adding links to new update items on this page to make it faster for visitors to see what's new.

September 22, 2005
Several images were added to Freeland home page; pictures of Park M.E. Church and St. Casimir's and St. John's Nep. R.C. Churches were added to "Places of worship" page; a picture of Harry Fisher in front of Fisher's livery was added to the "Transportation" page; a view of the corner of Centre and Main streets was added to street views linked from "Street names" page; and  photos of St. Mary's Band were added to the "Organizations" page.

The page called "Images of Freeland places of worship," linked from the "Places of worship" page listed at left, has a lot more images now, both of early church buildings and current cornerstones. I'm still missing pictures of a number of Freeland's early churches, so if you have any that you would be willing to let me copy, please let me know. Thanks!

August 24, 2004

June 27, 2004
I've added a page showing views of Freeland streets on old postcards; it's currently linked from the "Street names" page.

I've also added a page called "What are you looking for?" This page tells where the best places on the site are to find information on people, businesses, or pictures of Freeland. It's a kind of quick guide. It's linked only on the homr page, as is the "What's new!" page.

I've switched pictures at the top of the "Buildings" page, so now there's a postcard photo of the Citizens Bank there.

My library is hosting a conference in mid-June, and I've been preoccupied with the arrangements and unable to put time into my website for months now, but I'm hoping to get back to it in late June and will try to update the recent businesses page then.

May 15, 2004
