I have found an amazing parallel in my passion for photography and my digital work, working harder at one, only makes me better at the other. In both digital environments and photography, composition plays a vital role. My interest in photos involves creating surreal environments from unremarkable spaces using unique compositions. I strive to carry the same principles over to my digital work as well.

The images shown are from an exploration of contrast and desolation. I studied forgotten spaces, wrote about, photographed, and attempted to capture the sense of despair and loneliness these spaces imposed using high contrast images and fragmented writing. A selection of the over 400 photographs I took during that exploration were displayed in the main architecture hall lobby at Virginia Tech.
