Mitchell's microswimmer article has been published in JMEMS!

Congratulations to Mitchell on the publication of his article "A Customizable DNA and Microsphere-Based, Magnetically Actuated Microswimmer" in the Journal of Microelectromechanical Systems! Mitchell demostrated a hybrid top-down and bottom-up method for creating articulated magnetic microswimmers with control over microsphere separation.

Besh wishes to Mitchell as he begins medical school this Fall at the University of Pennsylvania (Perelman)!

Sriram's gammaPNA work was published in Nature Communications!

Congratulations to Sriram Kumar, Alex Pearse and Ying Liu for their excellent work on gammaPNA nanostructures. "Modular self-assembly of gamma-modified peptide nucleic acids in organic solvent mixtures" was published in Nature Communications, and the work was highlighted at Phys.org in the article "Unlocking PNA's superpowers for self-assembling nanostructures" and on the CMU College of Engineering website news.

Emma Benjaminson won the Best PhD Teaching Assistant Award!

Emma won the Best PhD Teaching Assistant Award for her outstanding work as a TA in 24-352: Dynamic Systems and Controls. The MechE undergraduate students voted to select her as the best graduate TA for Spring 2020.

CMU team led by Prof. Taylor manufactures face shields for the community

CMU has written two articles about our effort to utilize Tech Spark, IDeATE, and dFAB to manufacture 15,000 face shields for the community: "CMU Produces Face Shields" and "Behind the Shield"

Prof. Taylor was interviewed about this effort by Michelle Wright from WTAE Channel 4 local news. The Facebook Live interview is available at this link: here.

The effort was also highlighted on the NSF-sponsored kids blog BrainsOn! from American Public Media. In the episode "Coronavirus: How to be a helper from home," Prof. Taylor talks about how face shields can help make other PPE like face masks last longer.

Special thanks to Emma Benjaminson and Diana Haidar (and the TechSpark team) for their dedicated efforts making this possible! And many thanks to our partner, Global Links!
