Above, the back door of CMU-Q.
Well the last exams and papers are graded, the grade lines have been drawn and the registrar informed of who earned what grade in the two courses I taught this summer session. There is just the matter of internal paperwork to process for my “exit visa” from Qatar and the returning of the rental car.
I never did finish the story of the “hit and run” accident I had with the rental car. It ended up seeming too tortuous to take up the blog space. The executive summary is - the person who hit me was caught on a traffic video camera speeding at a very high rate just a few minutes after my encounter. Then a few minutes later he was involved in a wreck with another car, away from which he could not drive. The player, as the police would say, had a long “rap” sheet of driving violations. Because of this record and some hard work done by Fadhel Annan of CMU-Q, the car rental agency is not going to pursue me for the damage done to the car. This player did not have enough “wastah” to get him out of this jam with all that he had done. I turn back the car tomorrow, so we will see...

Winding Down - End of the Summer Semester
