tape sculpture lamp

over the summer i became fascinated with tape sculptures. i discovered how to make them from a street artist named Mark Jenkins.

creating them is rather simple: wrap the object in plastic wrap, then wrap clear packing tape over the plastic, cut off the plastic skin, and reseal the cast. for this lamp i cast a soda bottle.

the electrical components include 2 blue LEDs and a potentiometer

the construction involved mounting the LEDs to a piece of foam that attached to the tape sculpture

find the code here

the code has comments that explain each how each component is wired to the Arduino

the potentiometer can be used to dim the LEDs. this gif shows the different levels of brightness

the final product, lit up in all its glory, the sculpture diffuses the blue light extreamly well
