Little Sisters of the Poor


For more than a century the Little Sisters of the Poor have been providing care for the aged poor living in Pittsburgh who have neither the financial means nor the family/social support to maintain independence with dignity. The home offers all levels of care. From skilled care (very frail elderly) to independent and apartment living. The Little Sisters strive to meet all the residents' needs with physical and occupational therapy, social rehabilitation, restorative nursing care, recreational services, and spiritual support.

Service Opportunities:

  • Someone to play the piano for our rhythm band- one hour per week.
  • Someone to play an instrument for a small music group, when they are available
  • 1 to 1 visists with Residents to read, write letters, or just talk, when they are available
  • Escorts for shopping trips/outings once a month
  • Bowling in the home: 1 score keeper and 2 pin setters (evenings, twice a month>
  • Mini courses in student's expertise, as available
