Generations Together


Generations Together is an Intergenerational Studies Program based at the University of Pittsburgh's Center for Social and Urban Research. It promotes mutually beneficial interaction between the young and old through community outreach, program development, research, and dissemination of information. The purpose of Generations Together is to create intergenerational experiences that promote growth and understanding between the generations.

Service Opportunities:

  • YISTE(Youth in Service to Elders)- matches high school and college students with a home-bound, elderly resident of Squirell Hill, Shadyside or Oakland for home visits.
    Note: A commitment of 1-2 hours for at least 12 weeks is preferred. Training is required for all volunteers.
