Tanah was founded in 2003 as Carnegie Mellon's first South Asian Dance Troupe. Ever since, it has been an active troupe not only on-campus but at inter-collegiate competitions and national showcases. United by our passions for dancing, each member continues to develop new styles and skills that allow us to express our dynamic individualism. Tanah prides itself by creating and performing dances ranging from western hip-hop and bhangra to modern classical. In short, Tanah stands for the purity of motion, the desire to develop forms of movement that express our emotions.Together as one, we honor our heritage and our fervor for dance.

Are you interested in showcasing your dancing talent? Carnegie Mellon Tanah is looking for talented individuals to audition:
Dance troupe member (females-only):
Who are we looking for?
› Girls who have passion for dance, drive for learning new styles, and exhibit energy to draw in the audience.
› Experience with indian dance of any genre is NOT required
How are auditions structured?
› Auditions will be held over a two day period where each of you will learn the audition piece on the first day. You will be broken up into small groups for about fifteen minutes to ask any questions you may have about the routine. On the second day, the audition piece will be then performed in small groups. Afterwards, the individual segment of the audition will begin where you will perform the audition piece by yourself along with an optional thirty second individual piece. If you choose to perform the individual piece, please bring your music on any music playing device (such as an iPod) or a flash drive. Even though the individual piece is optional, it is encouraged. Not only do we want to witness your talents but also your creativity.
