Frequently Asked Questions: Q: May I join the club if I've never used a gun before? A: Yes, we will provide safety training and other firearms instruction. Q: Do I need to own a gun to join the club? A: No, we can provide you with one. If you like, you may also rent one from the range for a small fee. Q: Does it matter that I can't shoot well? A: It does not matter. This is NOT a competitive club. As long as you shoot safely, we don't care how good or bad your aim is. Q: Are guns allowed at the General Meetings on campus? A: No. CMU policy forbids guns on campus. However, you are allowed to bring guns to any of our off-campus trips. Q: How much does it cost to go shooting with the club? A: $7 for your first time; there's a $2 club fee for non-members, plus a $5 range fee. Q: How often does the club go shooting? A: About twice a month. However, we can go more or less frequently, depending on demand. Q: How old must I be to go shooting with the club? A: 18, but anyone may attend the meetings on campus.
