Choreographing

All dancers who have participated in Dancers' Symposium for at least 1 semester may choreograph. Each choreographer may choreograph 1 piece alone each semester, but may choreograph multiple dances if taken on with a co-choreographer. This should not exceed 4 dances. Choreographers must attend a choreographer meeting held before auditions.

Choosing Music:
• A dance may be a max of 3 minutes and 30 seconds long; this time limit is only subject to change when the dance exceeds 14 dancers.
• It is the choreographer's responsibility to censor their choreography and the lyrics to their song(s) of choice. This is all subject to director's discretion.
• Once used, a song may not be used again for at least 3 years. If a remixed version of a song is used it may not be used for 1 year.

Important Note: Choreographers must be very committed to their dancers. They are expected to hold regular, productive rehearsals. Inability to show a piece at checkpoint or to fulfill this commitment is subject to penalty.

As always, the Directors are here to help.
