Choreographing
All dancers who have participated in Dancers' Symposium for at
least 1 semester may choreograph. Each choreographer may choreograph 1
piece alone each semester, but may choreograph multiple dances if taken
on with a co-choreographer. This should not exceed 4 dances. Choreographers
must attend a choreographer meeting held before auditions.
Choosing Music:
• A dance may be a max of 3 minutes and 30 seconds long; this time
limit is only subject to change when the dance exceeds 14 dancers.
• It is the choreographer's responsibility to censor their
choreography and the lyrics to their song(s) of choice. This is all subject
to director's discretion.
• Once used, a song may not be used again for at least 3 years.
If a remixed version of a song is used it may not be used for 1 year.
Important Note: Choreographers must be very committed to their dancers.
They are expected to hold regular, productive rehearsals. Inability to
show a piece at checkpoint or to fulfill this commitment is subject to
penalty.
As always, the Directors are here to help.
FOR MORE INFORMATION ON CHOREOGRAPHING, PLEASE SEE THE DANCERS'
SYMPOSIUM CONSTITUTION.
