The CMU cricket
club is open to all students, staff, and faculty in the Carnegie Mellon
community. The Cricket Club is dedicated to promoting the game of cricket and
creating awareness of the sport at CMU. Cricket is a highly popular team sport
in various pockets of the world, ranging from South Asia to Australia, from
England to the Carribean, from South Africa to the New Zealand.
The CMU cricket
club is strictly non-religious and non-political; in the sense that it will not
espouse any political or religious causes or make any political statements
related to any country. The club is meant solely for the purpose of recreation
and spreading cricket awareness among the community at Carnegie Mellon
University.
Membership of The
Cricket Club is open to all persons interested in playing/following this sport.
The membership to the club is free. Members can fully participate in club
events and practices. Club members will also receive notice of all club events.
For the past
couple of years, cricket
tournaments have been have been held with the assistance of
MAYUR – a non-profit student organization of CMU, and have drawn huge success in
terms of both participation and spreading of cricketing awareness. The Cricket
Club plans to continue these tournaments on a more formal footing.
