Pinning and Submitting from Dominant Positions

Tips for pinning and submitting from all positions:

  • Always be aware of your opponent’s hips
  • Drive your own hips to the mat
  • Use your hips and weight to prevent your opponent from getting posture with his arms
  • Establish your pin before you attack with a submission
  • If a submission takes a significant amount of force to apply, you did not set it up correctly
  • Use your weight and positional advantage as much as possible when performing a submission
