Local Attractions

Walk-to attractions (i.e., lunch time).

  • Carnegie Museums (around the corner).  Especially check out the dinosaurs, the hall of minerals (much better than it sounds) and the 1:1 scale models of famous buildings in the hall of architecture (nothing was too good for Andrew's plebians).
  • Phipps Conservatory (across the lawn).   Site of the 2009 G20 meeting.  New, huge,  award-winning rain forest exhibit.  Runs on a power cell, which is why the G20 visited.  Do it with lunch---nice, sunny cafe and sidewalk dining.
  • Schenley Park (next door).  Lots of wooded trails.  Visitor center nice cafe with canyon view patio.  Nice for lunch.
