The Core
All mechanical needs will be housed and distributed through the core. The core will be the source for all plumbing, electrical, and heat needs throughout the house. Distribution systems will also be integrated to reduce infrastructure in the pods and maximize possible reconfiguration.
The Pods
Living spaces will reside in the pods in the form of both private spaces, such as bedrooms, as well as more public environments as living, cooking, and dining areas. These modular living systems are designed to plug into the main core, allowing for a variety of layouts using the same number and style of modules.
The Decks and Exterior
The Deck serves as a community space with TUD. It interacts with the Green Wall, softening the edges of the orthogonal and rectilinear house. It’s main intention is to extend the living area of the house; part of the deck is between the Living Room Pod and the Bedroom Pod, which provides the opportunity for blending the personal and private spaces. The majority of the deck is located in between our house and the TUD house to create a sense of community and neighborly interaction.
Green-Scape
The green-scape integrates technological components of the solar house with the natural environment. Beyond its aesthetic value, it provides insulation, absorption and purification of rainwater, as well as a habitat for native life. The green-scape is composed of organic growth in modular structures, encompassing the orthogonal house. We plan to integrate the house and the land by extending the landscape: literally growing from the land, up the walls, and onto the roof.
