TITLE : Graduate Student
design processes, interaction between form and function, shape grammars
Ian Tseng , Ph.D. Candidate
is a mechanical engineering Ph.D. student at Carnegie Mellon University.
His research and personal interests include the melding of Industrial Design
with Mechanical Engineering. Currently, Ian's research is looking to better
understand the interaction between form and function in the design process.
He hopes to formalize this understanding to allow computer-generateddesigns to better incorporate both form and functional objectives andconstraints.
Ian is a car enthusiast who enjoys music, hifi, cooking, skiing, and art.
He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. Ian received his B.S. in Mechanical
Engineering in 2003 from Carnegie Mellon University with minor studies in
Industrial Design and Engineering Design.
