Welcome Back BGSO!!! I hope that everyone had an enjoyable summer and is prepared to get back into the swing of things. On behalf of the executive board, I would like to welcome each and every one of you to the 2009-2010 academic year.
It is with great pleasure that I welcome all new students to Carnegie Mellon University, and welcome back returning students. I hope you are adjusting well to the graduate school experience, and are geared up for what this semester has to offer.
The Black Graduate Student Organization is committed to making the transition to graduate school as smooth as possible for students of color, and hopes to serve their social and career needs. The BGSO ‘family’ offers students the support they need to be successful.
Joining the BGSO is a great way to meet new people and get involved. There are many exciting activities planned for this year, but they will only be as great as your participation. With your help, we can continue to make a positive mark on the Carnegie Mellon and Pittsburgh communities.
In the words of Andrew Carnegie, “my heart is in the work.” I look forward to working with you and seeing you at our events and programs this year, and good luck in your academic endeavors!
Best
Devon M. Rollins
2009-2010 BGSO President
