Activities
General Body Meetings
Generally held once or twice a semester, the General Body Meetings are the forum for holding elections, discussion upcoming events and activities, and getting member feedback on the endeavors of our section. The next General Body Meeting will be on Wednesday, September 14th from 4:30PM to 5:30PM in SH 125.
Impromptu Design Competitions
The impromptu design competitions are a fun and creative activity open to all our members. Each team is given a set of simple materials and one hour to build a solution to the competition problem, which is unknown until participants arrive for the event. Student Design Contest
The Student Design contest is an inter-collegiate competition hosted by ASME. The challenge problem and rules are different each year, but always focus on mechanical design. Historically, Carnegie Mellon has sent one design team to the Regional competition each year. Visit the media page to see photos from last year's competition.
Social Outings
Our section organizes several social events each year. Past events have included BBQ’s, trips to the symphony, and trips to Kennywood amusement park. If you have an idea for an event you would like to see us organize, please contact us! To see a list of upcoming events, check the calendar.
